Merry merry Ho Ho Ho!

Happy Holidays!  Yes, I  mean all them!  Happy Every Holiday You Celebrate This Time of Year!

We've all been pretty busy in Juana Ghani.  Our mandolin player married our bass drummer (who is also our amazingly beautiful golden belly dancer).  We found a fabulous euphonium player.  We played our first shows and received wonderful responses from our audiences.  We lost our new euphonium player to the University in Ann Arbor, Michigan.  And we've made some great connections and are planning some incredible shows after the first of the year.

Speaking of shows, we received a nice little surprise the day after our show at Liquid Joe's in the shape of a fabulous review written by Stephanie Novak of WHEN SHE SPEAKS I HEAR THE REVOLUTION.  You can read it HERE.

The new website is live now!  HTTP://JUANAGHANI.COM    Events, music, this blog, photos ... the works!  Some pages are still under construction, but there's enough there right now to keep you well informed and full of music.

Time for me to get back to these last minute holiday errands.  This is a bit insane, this waiting until the last minute, don't ya think?  Until next time, here are a few of my favorite things (now that song's in your head, huh?):
  • Pepperlane Blackberry Buzz JalapeƱo Preserves  --  http://pepperlane.com  --  Sweet blackberry jam with a surprising kick of jalapeno.  Excellent on a turkey sandwich.
  • Green & Black's Organic Milk Chocolate Bar with Almonds  --  http://greenandblacks.com  --  A yummy little taste of heaven in every bite.  I think this just might be my favorite candy bar ever (right now).
  • Mediaeval Baebes "Mistletoe and Wine" --  http://www.mediaevalbaebes.com/cds.html  --  My favorite seasonal CD.  I could be very happy curling up in front of a crackling fire, mug of hot cider in hand, listening to the Baebes' haunting voices sing "Blow Northern Wind".  Very happy, indeed.
Until next time, have a fabulous holiday!  May it be filled with all the love and joy you can handle ... and then some!

Happy Holidays and New Live Shows! (Newsletter; Dec. 6, 2010)

Hello, Everybody!

Things have been pretty crazy here in the world of Juana Ghani.  The new website is closer to being ready for its unveiling, new songs are in the making, new partnerships are in those giddy-goofy-flirty stages, and we've been rehearsing long and hard, getting ready for our upcoming debut performances.  Which brings me to the main purpose of this letter:  UPCOMING PERFORMANCES!

This Friday evening, December 10th, we will be playing a set at The Coffee Shop (4013 West 12600 South).  Look for us to start around 8:30pm.  This is a FREE show (tips are gratefully and happily accepted) and the whole family is welcome - even the little kidlettes (unless it's past their bedtime).

Then on Wednesday, December 15th, we will be a part of the Utah Musicians 1st Anniversary Show at Liquid Joe's (1249 East 3300 South) in Salt Lake City, Utah.  Dancing along with our own stunning Natassia, we will be joined by the beautiful and talented ladies of Black Star Belly Dance.  You don't want to miss that!  We will be 1 of 4 bands playing that night so make sure and tell them at the door that you're there to see JUANA GHANI.  Even better, send us an email with your name - and those of the people coming with you - and we'll put you on a list to get in the door for $3 cover.  Doors open at 7pm.  Must be over 21.

Unfortunately, our euphonium player, Patrick, will be leaving us after the Liquid Joe's show and moving home to Michigan.  We'll miss him, but we wish him the very best.

That about wraps things up for now.  Until next time (rumors of art shows and hookah abound!), Happy Holidays from all of us!

Budmo!
Juana Ghani

P.S.  We are currently auditioning for sousaphone/tuba, trombone, trumpet, fiddle, additional percussion (bodhran, cajon, dohl, djembe, etc.), and additional female vocals.  If you live in the Salt Lake City area, are over 21 and are interested in joining the Juana Ghani family, please contact us at juanaghani@gmail.com and tell us about yourself and what instrument(s) you play.
